Rock Star Game Recaps

Rock Stars Edged by Blue Jays 3-2 - May 14

The Rock Stars opened the tournament game with a first pitch hit by Erica. Natalie L then brought

Erica home with a nice RBI hit. Gabby then rocked a pitch from Selena to get an RBI hit and give

the Rock Stars a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Blue Jays got only one run in the first

as the Rock Star defense was solid. The Rock Stars’ infield consistently scooped up ground balls

and threw runners out. Isabelle was a catching machine at first base. The Rock Star bats went

cold as Selena pitched fast and accurately. Isabelle came in to pitch for the Rock Stars and did a

great job. The Blue Jays did squeeze across two more runs on some outfield errors making the

score 3-2 which proved to be the final tally.

The Rock Stars improved so much this year that while no one enjoys losing a tournament game,

the coaches were very proud of the great defensive play and the great hits against a very good

pitcher. Every game this year the Rock Stars either won the game or were in a position to win right

up to the final inning. All season, the other teams were concerned about playing the Rock Stars.

All the Rock Stars now enjoy a good foundation to improve more and more as they keep playing

softball.

Great year girls!!!!! And thanks to all the parents and coaches who contributed so much!!!!!

Rock Stars Cap Regular Season with 8-6 Win Over Green Lazers - May 1

The Green Lazers scored twice in the top of the first only to have the Rock Stars respond

with a five-run max bottom half to jump to a lead they never relinquished. Erica started the

rally with a hit followed by consecutive hits by Natalie L, Gabby, Isabelle, Maya and Sammie.

Maya’s hit was a frozen rope to the outfield netting her two RBIs. After Sammie’s hit brought

in Maya, the inning ended because of the max run rule even though there were no outs. In the

second inning the Green Lazers got one run while the Rock Stars left Andie stranded on third.

Natalie L put the Green Lazers down 1-2-3 in the third inning with two strikeouts and a pop-up

she caught. The Rock Stars added two more runs in the third to stretch the lead to 7-3. Erica

got on base with a nice single followed by a Natalie L homerun.

The Green Lazers charged back in the fourth with three runs to close the gap to 7-6. In her first

appearance at the catcher position, Andie caught a foul-tip third strike to end the Green Lazers’

rally. Hits by Sammie and Andie in the bottom of the fourth put the score at 8-6 and the game

ended with that score. The Rock Stars made some great defensive plays with Maya scooping up

every ground ball that came her way and firing out runners at first base. Isabelle grabbed throws

all day at first base, Natalie L tagged out a runner on the way to home, Gabby and Erica almost

threw out a runner at third, Natalie K, Lindsay, Sophia and Mary all prevented anything from getting

pass the outfielders. The Rock Stars looked very good in handing the Green Lazers their second loss

of the season. All the coaches are very proud of the improvement in all the players and for a great

regular season. On to the tournament.

Rock Stars fall twice to Blue Jays - April 17 & 19

Back to back games against the division’s leading pitcher provided some great experience

for the Rock Stars. Both games could have gone the Rock Stars way right up to the last inning.

In Thursday’s game the Rock Stars jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Natalie L’s homerun to start

the game off. Gabby and Erica each “took one for the team” but were left stranded. The Blue

Jays first scored in the third inning as Natalie L was pitching superbly. A few defensive lapses

allowed the Blue Jays to get a couple of more runs in the fourth inning and Sammie’s infield

homerun started a last inning rally that fizzled leaving the final score 4-2.

On Saturday, the Blue Jays held a 2-1 lead after three innings, the Rock Stars run coming as

Andie made a great hit and scored with her first homerun of the season. The Rock Stars played

excellent defense with Isabelle performing exceptionally well at first base. Sammie and Natalie L

also contributed some great defense and the Blue Jays tallied five total runs on some excellent hits.

Andie got another nice hit in the fifth inning but the Rock Star bats couldn’t bring her in and the

game ended with a 5-1 score.

The Rock Stars played the Blue Jays close and as the Rock Stars get their timing on such faster

pitching, the bats will undoubtedly start making more noise. The Rock Star defense continues to

look solid.

Rock Stars Win Hot Duel with Blue Dolphins 6-5 - April 13

In the blistering heat the Rock Stars were cool under pressure as they notched

their seventh win of the season. The Blue Dolphins scored quickly with four runs in

the first inning and the Rock Stars answered with one run on hits by Natalie L and

Isabelle who got the RBI. On an Africa hot day, Gabby did a super job behind the plate

only being relieved in one inning by Lindsay who did great in her first time catching.

In the second inning, the defensive play of Natalie L and Isabelle shut out the Dolphins

while the offensive charge led by Erica, Andie, Lindsay and Mary knotted the game at 4-4.

Defensively, the infield play of Erica, Maya, Sammie and Isabelle combined with the great

pitching of Natalie L to prevent any Dolphin runs in the top of the third. Our outfielders

didn’t let the heat stop them from making the plays they needed to make as Sophia, Natalie K,

Andie, Mary and Lindsay were always on top of the play. In the bottom of the third, Natalie L ripped

a hit into right field for a triple and then scored on an RBI hit by Isabelle to put the Rock Stars

up 5-4 after three. The two teams battled all afternoon with the Dolphins tying it up with one

run in the top of the fourth inning. Erica then got a clutch hit to lead off the bottom of the fourth

Lindsay got a nice hit in the second inning though the Gold Rush stretched their lead

the third inning when what appeared to be a base hit to right field was scooped up by

Mary who then rifled the throw to a waiting Isabelle to get the runner out at first.

Sammie added to the great defense which helped send the Gold Rush to the dugout

without a run. In the top of the fourth the Rock Stars broke out their bats and staged

a two-out rally with Erica and Sammie getting great hits and scoring as Andie registered

a great hit and an RBI to make the score 6-3. Natalie L got three-up and three down in

the bottom of the fourth. Trailing 6-3, the Rock Stars engineered an amazing comeback

starting with Amaya who “took one for the team” and then scored on an awesome hit by

Sophia who ripped the ball to the fence. Natalie L and Gabby both racked up clutch hits

and RBIs followed by Isabelle’s hit and RBI to give the Rock Stars a 7-6 lead. In the

bottom of the last inning the Gold Rush got one hit and one run as the great pitching

of Natalie L and some great defense by Isabelle shut the Gold Rush down and secured

the comeback tie for the Rock Stars. A great total team effort by the Rock Stars!

The music was rocking, the Rock Stars had the rhythm and the crowd was up

for a contest at the Heasley T-Ball field between the undefeated Green Lazers

sweet as honey all night and she shut the Green Lazers down 1-2-3 in the third and

fourth innings. In the top of the fifth Erica got another hit and again found herself

stranded on third leaving the score at 2-1. The Green Lazers added a run in the fifth

and time ran out before the Rock Stars could bat again. The Rock Stars played great

defense all night with Erica, Maya, Sammie and Isabelle looking like a major league

infield. Not to be outdone by the infield, the outfielders were on top of every ball that

came their way. Lindsay, Amaya, Natalie K, Mary, Andie and Sophia were alert and

quickly got the ball in every time. The Rock Stars played hard and are looking forward

to the rematch
